Twelve-year-old Kheila Valverde has been a Girls, Inc. member for the past 7 years. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, hanging out with friends and having fun. Her favorite academics are reading, science, social studies and gifted classes. One of Kheila’s favorite past times is watching T.V. because she loves to see the characters in their scripted world. That is one reason she wants to be an actress.

Case Management
Case Management functions as a resource for girls and families involved in our center-based and outreach programs. It increases girls’ abilities to effectively overcome personal challenges by providing a safe environment and onsite adult support. It also increases parents’ awareness of and accessibility to community resources.
Through Case Management we refer families in crisis to other United Way and government agencies that provide emergency support. By facilitating relationships with The Department of Human Resources, The Rape Crisis Center, the Birmingham Division of Youth Services, and others, we ensure that our members receive the best care possible, particularly during tough times.
