September is National Preparedness Month and at Girls Inc. of Central Alabama we are working to teach our girls all about being prepared in case an emergency happens. One of our Eureka! Program participants put together a preparedness curriculum for her Girl Scout Silver Award which will be taught to the 1st-3rd grade girls throughout September. While the classes are being taught to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade girls all program girls are able to get the preparedness information.
This week the girls went over First Aid. Those participating learned that first aid is the first action to take when injured and it prevents infection of a wound. Then they went over all the times someone might need to use a first aid kit. At the end of the lesson each girl was able to make her own first aid kit to take home and share with her family!
